Here I wrote things wich can improve Duck Hunt Dog in Crusade

Side special attack:
When he throws a friesbee he could dash to it to get it, here is how it could be: First duck hunt dog throws the frisbee, then if he presses the side special attack button again then he will jump to it to get it, of course he will only be able to do this in a determinated distance from him to the friesbee, so a pointer will be pointing the friesbee and when it gets to far away then the pointer disapears, this can make the player know when Duck Hunt Dog can jump to it and when not, of course when he jumps to the friesbee he could damage players during the jump if they are in front of him, maybe the friesbee could go a bit more far away to make this attack more confortable.
Example:
 

Neutral special attack:
This is a improvement for the special attack: Duck Hunt Dog could be pointing to four directions to shoot with the zapper (Up, Down, Right and Left). Also, in crusade the proyectile wich Duck Hunt Dog shoots disapears after a moment when Duck Hunt Dog shoots it, wich means it can move to a determinated distance, a pointer should be in the place where the bullet will disapear while the players hold the special attack, this can make us know if we should shoot from that angle or not.


Down special attack
Duck Hunt Dog could have a new down special attack: It could be just like Marth`s (He guards and if someone punches him he attackes back)

Side special idea would be good if it were a frisbee he throws. It's a clay disc, the kind you shoot down at a gun range.

Neutral special is ok, but idk if we'll bother with that.

Down special is just, no.

We already have enough characters with Counter Attacks and Pseudo Counters.

Didn't someone suggest something similar for nspecial a while ago? I think it would be a very nice addition. It would need sprites for aiming up and down (in the air for the latter), and a little crosshair.

I think the neutral special idea is nice, and while I agree that the Down Special getting changed would be great, I think the move should be different from what you suggested.

Since Smash 3DS/Wii U has the dog reference other Zapper games, why not have the Down Special do the same?
But maybe from something other than Hogan's Alley and Wild Gunman.

Would probably be best to derive inspiration from a Nintendo made game.

its a can from Hogan's Alley or whatever

its an interesting projectile, you kick it out to damage people, it stays around for a bit, you can activate the special again for it to be shot and it bounces around again to damage people

Well I guess we could do that too.

Not sure what we could derive from Gumshoe or something else into his moveset.

And you shoot Stevenson to make him jump, so yeah not much to work with there.
Maybe as an Up Special, but the Ducks being used as an Up Special fits the character much more so yeah.

While we're on the topic, I think adding the ability to shoot the Clay Pigeon like in Sm4sh would make the move much more useful, it just seems like a filler move as it is right now. There doesn't seem to be anything real "special" about it.

Strongly against the down special. Sorry, but I'm just not a fan of representation of series over character. Besides, what's wrong with the current down special? He does it in Duck Hunt. We shouldn't be scraping for moves when we have something right there.

Something special happening if you shoot a clay disc, though, that could be fun. Like, it breaks into many shards that fly in several directions.

Oh lol but Weegee is completely different. His entire concept is based on memes and references.

Seriously though which characters have references to others in them? I had no idea that any of them did.
