I've had it with the negative crap (RANT WARNING)

I'm glad I have this site to fall back on for Smash discussion, because besides watching Smash Bros on Youtube and Twitch and looking through the updates on the official site, I'm at a point where I cannot stand reading and chatting about the game with other people. It's a ton of aggravation over nothing.

I'm sick of people complaining about how the game won't be competitive because it's not 1:1 with Melee, I'm sick of people calling characters OP without even playing the game, (Do you really think a single blind tournament plus a week of poorly if at all recorded gameplay is enough to call out the game's quality?) and I'm sick of people thinking Sakurai would quickly add things for them even though the roster, as well as many other components of the game, are predetermined from last year. I'm sick of people seriously expecting characters to be in the game that have an entire list of reasons not to be in, but a couple redeeming qualities that those people think justify the character enough to be Sakurai's go-to without question. I'm unfathomably sick of people worshiping Sakurai for molecular decisions and hating him the next day for other ones. I'm sick of hearing about Zero Suit Samus's heels like they stopped the world. I hate it when people squeal about characters who are "important to Nintendo" not getting their spot, and then getting mad when characters - and I'm trying to put a lot of emphasis on this - THAT HAVE BEEN IN RECENT, NOT TO MENTION FUN AND SUCCESSFUL GAMES get confirmed, such as Rosalina, Shulk, and Little Mac. Seriously, if you're purposefully searching through a list of old and obscure Nintendo games looking for a good candidate, maybe you should rethink what exactly is "important to Nintendo".

I love Smash Bros., and I mean the entire series. It's my second favorite series, just beat by LittleBigPlanet, and I mean the game itself no harm. I'm not trying act as an undying shield for the game, but in all my life, I have NEVER seen as much negativity and skepticism for a video game that hasn't even been released.

I'm gonna lay off non-official Smash discussion for a while. Of course I'll come to this site because everyone here is at least rational, but the ungodly pile of Miiverse comments, 10-15 year old hack journalists, twitch chat, facebook posts, tumblr feeds, even the smash reddit? More like Forgeddit (hah!). I'm waiting till the game gets released before I subject myself to this stupidity. I've taken a year of it, and I think it's more than enough. You wanna know why the wait for Smash 4 is painful? Whiny brats like them. That's why.

Smashboards is the worst when it comes to these kinds of things imo.

I signed up for Smashboards for the sake of future tournament attending if I ever get the time, but I never felt like I ever had to go there for anything. As someone who is almost as hype for Crusade as I am for Smash 4, I feel like hanging around here just makes a lot more sense. With the new demo on the way, why wouldn't I? Not to mention Crusade's roster is bigger than every smash game ever, official and fan. It's not an awful roster either, and most characters are pretty fun to play as.

I agree with you Hype, which is why I've stated before how much I hate the smash fanbase.

By the way hype, what is your handle on smashboards?

There's only a few types of Smash fans I like. For the most part its people who play the game semi-well and don't complain about character choices, either by other players or by Sakurai. If you go to a tournament without reading the rules and loudly protest the other player for picking a character you don't like, (yes even MK) you should get a roundhouse to the teeth from the TO. I'm serious. Why complain about the game when you could just play it and develop as a player? Most people nowadays talk big and play small.

Also, my handle is just Grovfu, like on other sites. Apparently the website is down, so you know. Like I said, I have yet to do literally anything on the site, so don't expect anything much.

Be glad that it's Smash Bros, and not something more serious. There are some comments on the whole "Celebgate" thing that just make you want to nuke the world.

I actually am guilty of this. I realy don't like Rosalina, but from a gameplay standpoint her inclusion is great. I don't lke Shulk that much either, but again, he seems very interesting from a gameplay standpoint.

Sakurai is not perfect, but he treats SSB4 like a game, and obviously puts heavy emphasis on gameplay. That obviously is the rational thing to do.

That's the problem, though. People are treating everything "wrong" with the game as if it was some weird political fetishist jack-off fest, like it's as important as these big-scale, or at least actually controversal problems. (Disclaimer: Don't know much at all about the Celebgate incident/legacy)  I'm sure most of these people who whine about the game being inferior to other installations of Smash won't buy Smash 4, or even have a Wii U, and if they do, most of them will pull that "trust me, I played it myself" shit.

Heh, I find that hard to swallow. The bit about them not buying Smash 4, that is. People complain and complain and complain, but at the end of the day, they won't resist the tug of the new game. These people care about Smash too much.

No fighting that, I suppose. Anyone is allowed to play, and I think most people will.
