Space Dragon Takes Flight!
The leader of the Space Pirates has been known to reinvent himself. This time, it's no different. Ridley is back on the hunt, with an anti-ground playstyle that is sure to leave the opponent in shambles!Of course, this doesn't mean he's not a menace when grounded either! He remains a threat with his tall stature and large wingspan when facing off against even the fiercest of opponents. However......
Ridley's neutral special now allows him to hover mid-air, making him more offensive when in flight. Rain death from above!
Launching himself up in the air with his devastating claws, Ridley's forward throw is now a real threat. While airborne, Ridley is in his most dangerous state, allowing for follow up attacks such as his neutral special.
Ridley's Down Throw has also received a buff, forcing characters onto the ground. No matter how they choose to tech or roll, Ridley has the options to cover it!
This pterodactyl's tail has come in handy quite often in the past, especially during aerial maneuvers. Previously, it was difficult to tell his neutral air and forward air apart from each other. This time, however, it will not be an issue. The tail swing of Ridley's forward air has been delayed, giving it a more powerful and elongated hitbox.
Ridley's Down Air has also been improved! It bounces higher, which is more reminiscent of the original boss fight while at the same time being less spammable. We've also tweaked the knockback and hitstun to allow aerial followups after a hit!
Those intimidating spikes on his wings aren't just for show. His Up Air has been granted sweetspot that is very powerful when used from below. Here, we can see Ridley popping a certain "balloon!"
Lastly, his jab combo has been slowed, allowing you to clearly see each powerful swing. The hitstun and knockback of each attack has been adjusted to make sure the combo flows properly.
In addition to all of these changes, Ridley has received various hitbox adjustments, upgrades, and tweaks to smooth out the character's playstyle and ability to knock out the opponent with full force! (Did you notice his shiny new default palette as well?)
Tune in every Friday for more updates!
