Hey how's it going? I am new to game making and got a question for you. In your opinion what is the best game making program to make a fighting game? I am interested in making a fighting game and i really don't know where to start. Any feedback would be really appreciated.

Cheers!

Moved to a more appropriate board.

Crusade is done in GameMaker, but I would suggest learning a more flexible language if you want to make games (C++ is a widely used language, for example).

Also, if you don't have experience making games, I wouldn't start with a fighting game. They're very complex and hard to make. Start with a platformer or something simple then work your way up (especially if you want to make something smash-like since it uses platforming mechanics).

If you really want to do a Street Fighter-like fighting game, there is still MUGEN...

Start with things like breakout games and maze games, things that involve basic collisions and movement and don't need much physics. Once you've got a general grasp of gravity and acceleration (or know differential calculus and can work it out yourself...) you could start on platform games and the like.
