| This game was cool, but I enjoyed Demon's Souls substantially better. This game was not as difficult, especially with all those damn bonfires. I felt like the game was holding my hand a bit instead of the unrelenting game it should have been. And it only pretended to have open world, they really should have just taken pride in their linearity instead of trying to pretend it was something else.
That said, it still was a solid game. There's a lot to like about it, and there was the occasional improvement over Demon's Souls. Overall, it was not as good. |

I didn't find it nearly as linear as everyone makes it out to be, although yeah, if you're new the game's pretty linear due to sheer scaling and lack of skill, but I thought it improved upon a few things from demons souls. One thing I'm so RELIEVED about is the fact that your body no longer is at the exact place where you died, more-so several steps behind it, so where in demon's souls if you fell off a cliff you were screwed, in dark souls you can retrieve your body on top of said cliff. The bonfires do get alittle stupid though, I admit. Anor londo has FOUR. The challenge is still very much there, I DARE you to beat bosses like Carpe Demon and Smough & Ornstien on your first try, but there was plenty of this game that could be cheese'd. That being said, lets hope Dark Souls 2 brings the best of both games. |
